Community Resources

At St. John, we welcome all of God’s children of any age, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or economic circumstance.

  • Immigration Legal Resource Center Red Cards

All people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution. The ILRC’s Red Cards help people assert their rights and defend themselves in many situations, such as when ICE agents go to a home. Click HERE to download the Red Card.

Tarjetas Rojas

  • Food Assistance Programs

As of Tuesday 11/4, it appears that due to the government shutdown, SNAP (food stamp) benefits for November will only be partially funded, and there may still be delays of weeks or even months before those funds are available for use by recipients. If the shutdown extends into December, no additional SNAP funding will be available. This means that people who rely on this assistance to have regular meals - including children and seniors - are at risk of not getting enough to eat as we head into winter.

The Outreach Committee is asking for emergency donations to help us support parishioners and other members of the community affected by the loss of SNAP benefits.  Funds collected will be set aside for distribution by the parish clergy as needed to members of St. Johns (or to those referred by parish members). Checks can be made out to St. John's with a note they are for "Outreach - SNAP fund".

St. John does not have a food pantry, but we do host Feed the Hungry, a well-respected 501 (c)(3) organization that prepares and serves a hearty and healthy hot meal every Sunday afternoon at 2:15pm. Everyone is welcome.

If you have been affected by a loss of SNAP benefits, you can find a local food pantry by calling 211 or visiting www.211info.org. You can also find Oregon Food Bank partners at www.oregonfoodbank.org/find-food or calling 503-282-0555.

  • Support for those who are unhoused

St. John has been working with The Father’s Heart Street Ministry, a nonprofit in Oregon City dedicated to serving homeless adults in the area. In addition to agreeing to run the Emergency Weather Shelter here at St. John, they have a robust resource center in Oregon City, providing food, showers, laundry, daytime and overnight accommodations, and other basic and immediate needs.
