Grow in Love:
Faith, Hope, and Generosity
"And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13
St. John is growing and we need your support.
Thank you for prayerfully considering your 2027 financial commitment to St. John's.
And as the unpredictableness and unlikeliness of our community grows in love, so do our financial needs to support the work of the church amongst us and in the world. As you consider your annual gift to St. John’s for 2027, I thank you for all the ways you help make our community a beautiful and unlikely haven of God’s grace and love in the middle of downtown Milwaukie.
Our goal is to increase our giving this year by 10% over the amount pledged in 2026. If you have given in the past and are able to increase your gift, thank you.
If you are new to St. John’s or have never pledged before, we invite you to make a financial commitment for next year.
You can get a pledge card in the office, or you can make your pledge now by clicking HERE to go to the Google Form virtual pledge card.
Grow in Generosity
Grow in Generosity
Sometimes I watch these videos, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for our community. The folks speaking to where they see generosity at St. John’s name so many ways we are church together: from welcoming new folks, connecting with those who have been part of the community for decades, ministries that serve those who are struggling with food or shelter, and prayer.
All this, I think, is a response to God’s deep generosity to us. All we have, all we are, comes from God. St. John's models so beautifully the deep truth that the faithful response to God’s generosity to us is generosity to our community.
Thank you for prayerfully considering your 2027 financial commitment to St. John's. If you have not pledged before, please consider making a commitment. If you have given in the past and are able to increase your gift by 10%, thank you. And thank you for all you are and all you do to make St. John's such a loving community.

Grow in Faithfulness
Grow in Faithfulness
Faithfulness, to me, is about commitment. Faithfulness, at St. John’s, is about commitment to our relationship to Christ, to our community, and to those in need. It is at the heart of our life together and as our community grows in diversity, outreach, and staffing to support our journey of faith, our financial needs grow too.
Your financial commitment to St. John’s allows to keep being faithful stewards of God’s work in Milwaukie; it allows us to keep our building safe, warm, and hospitable so we can pray together, worship together, and support folks who need a warm meal or warm place to sleep.
Thank you for prayerfully considering your 2027 financial commitment to St. John's. If you have not pledged before, please consider making a commitment. If you have given in the past and are able to increase your gift by 10%, thank you. And thank you for all you are and all you do to make St. John's such a loving community.

Grow in Love
Grow in Love
The word love is perhaps the most overused and ill-defined in the English language. For example, the same word can apply to how I feel about my children, my God, AND my new shoes.
The scholar NT Wright suggests that for earliest writer in the of the New Testament, Paul, love means “there is now a community which is living as a highly unlikely, unpredictable community.” (You can listen to NT Wright speak briefly about here).
That is what I hear in these beautiful voices and faces in the video, that the love we have for God and one another and the community that gathers at St. John's are inseparable.
