Joy in God’s Bounty
‘I have said these things to you
so that my joy may be in you
and that your joy may be
complete.’
John 15:11
This year, we’re asking the question, “What brings you joy?” Take a look at what some of our parishioners have said.
We encourage you prayerfully to reflect on the joy you find at St. John’s as you
make your financial commitment to our community for 2026.
Our goal is to increase our giving this year by 10% over the amount pledged in 2025. If you have given in the past and are able to increase your gift, thank you.
If you are new to St. John’s or have never pledged before, we invite you to make a financial commitment for next year.
You can get a pledge card in the office, or you can make your pledge now by clicking HERE to go to the Google Form virtual pledge card.
Week 1: Joy in Worship
Peggy has been a member since 1953. That is 72 years’ worth of Sundays, of Easters, of Christmases. Peggy has been a member of St. John’s for 72 years; she has celebrated and mourned, laughed and cried, sung and prayed in our pews. Peggy shares so beautifully and vulnerably her memories of worship at St. John’s and the way our church has supported her and strengthened her faith.
Worship is the heart of St. John’s. Through prayer, the Word, sacraments, and song we deepen our relationship to Christ and, joyfully, we get to do that together.
The theme of his year’s pledge campaign is joy. Joy is different from happiness or pleasure, it is a deep, wistful, and powerful emotion. As CS Lewis describes: “All Joy reminds. It is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still ‘about to be.’” That is the emotion I think Peggy is describing, and it is what I hope you find again and again at St. John’s.
Our Sunday, weekday, and feast day services seek to tap into the joy that Peggy and Lewis describe. When you pledge your financial support to St. John’s, your money helps make worship possible: from designing and printing bulletins, supporting our music program and the guest musicians Michelle invites, providing our altar flowers and the bread and wine we share every Sunday, and keeping our building in good repair so our worship space can be comfortable and welcoming.
Thank you for being part of our community, and thank you for your financial support of St. John's.

"I remember sitting on the little bench, looking up at that lovely stained glass window, singing 'Jesus Loves Me' in 1954 when I got out of the hospital with polio."
Week 2: Joy in Connection
"St. John is like a friend who you can always go back to." -Natalie
"It's my favorite place to worship and see people I can be with to progress my faith and see the world in a better light." - Jake
I am a firm believer that you can not be a Christian alone; community and relationship are essential to our life Christ. That is where church comes in. Fortunately, community and relationship with God has the joyous byproduct of fostering deep friendships and support amongst those who are part of our church community.
A couple of months ago, Natalie and Brandon Ramos renewed their marriage vows with their kids and parents in attendance. They were married a couple of decades before on the beach in a dress Natalie got at Ross. This was the church wedding they did not have the first time and it was, honestly, one of the most joyous services I have had the privilege to participate in.
